WHAT: 3rd Annual Gumbo Cook-off
WHEN: 11:00am – 3:00pm on Saturday, March 19, 2011
WHERE: Bienville Square in downtown Mobile
WHY: Proceeds support the programs and services of the American Red Cross Alabama Gulf Coast Chapter. Those programs and services include disaster preparedness, response, and relief, health and safety education, and Services to the Armed Forces. DETAILS: Kids can enjoy a jump on the moonwalk and expanded kids’ area while mom and dad get to taste some mouth-watering gumbo from 20 different teams. The kids’ area includes face painting, a moonwalk, and an activity from the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center. Live entertainment will be provided by musical guests Underhill Family Orchestra and David Chatel.
Tickets are $10.00 in advance and can be purchased at Bay Bank and BankTrust branches in Mobile County. Tickets will be $15.00 at the gate. Children age 10 and under get in free.
The judges are Carmen Brown from Cumulus Radio, David Holloway from the Press-Register, Bill Armbrecht from The Brick Pit, Betty Champion of The Gumbo Academy, and Judy Adams with the Mobile Port Authority.
CPR/AED demonstrations and course information will be available for those interested in enrolling in a CPR, First Aid, and AED course.
